Selective Hearing is a blog dedicated to sharing music, art, ideas and inspiration, including a monthly mix featuring a variety of music from different genres and decades.

Both the blog and mixes are curated by Dot (Alpha Pup, TeamSupreme) aka Kate Ellwanger, who is a 21-year-old composer and producer. She is currently based in Los Angeles and studies at Chapman University’s Conservatory of Music. This led her to the class of Dubspot beat guru Steve Nalepa, where she was introduced to electronic music production as well as the founders of TeamSupreme. Dot quickly discovered Low End Theory and the thriving Los Angeles beat community, which began to profoundly impact her production aesthetic. Dot debuted her live set at Low End Theory in 2011, and continues to play in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, and Singapore. She will be following her debut EP Calliope with a full-length album to be released later this Spring on Alpha Pup.  Her sound is influenced by Nosaj Thing, Flying Lotus, Portishead, and Steve Reich.
